I’m pretty sure…

I’m in a bit of  rut. Just doing the same things, day in and day out. Sleep, drive for hours, stop, eat, play a hour or two of Skyrim (or not) and then sleep. In the morning, rinse, repeat. I haven’t had the urge to do any photography, or much of anything else for that matter. I might work on my writing (as I am now) but just to express how bored I am? Who wants to read that? I’d write more but I’ve got to get my happy ass on the road to run, run, run. Sigh…

LATER: Be careful what you complain about, it usually comes back to bite you in the ass. My quick drop and hook pickup load turned into a six hour minor nuisance. First, I had to put the loaded trailer in a dock, “For a couple of pallets that just came in, half hour tops.” Two hours later, the load was finally complete and I drove the half mile to the CAT scale to get weighed. 4,000 lbs. over on the trailer tandems and no way to slide that will fix that. That takes skill right thar!

So my day came to an early halt, I’m bobtail in the truckstop so I might get my 10 hour break in. Now, off to bed. It’s been weird…

Another Lost Weekend…

Another slow weekend out on the road enjoying the fine hometown ambiance of Rochelle, IL . My truck was “bleeding” coolant, a very apt metaphor because the coolant is red and gets all crusty when it dries. Because the need to head immediately to the shop, and not knowing the seriousness of the repair, the loads stacked on me were given to others and I had to settle for what’s left. But the previous week was a busy one, so it’s no great loss and the repair turned out to be minor. Not that you would have known it from the “carnage” under the hood.

So, now I’m sitting, waiting to pickup a load that doesn’t deliver till Monday morning. I got the IntarWebToobs to keep me occupied, and I could always nap. Unless you folks want to keep me busy by pestering me with phone calls and Facebook updates (hint, hint), I would stay awake for that. Winking smile

Hanging It Out Again

I’m in Knoxville tonight, waiting for the sun to rise. My overdimensional permit are about a half-ton too light for the load I’m carrying. The big scalehouse nearby has been doing heavy business all day and I don’t much feel like getting a ticket. And being that today is Veterans Day, all the permit offices are closed. So I get to wait for new permits in the morning because I can’t burn off that much fuel, even if I idle all night.

The new trailer is working out so far and I haven’t done a lot of sitting around waiting for a load. With the new trailer I can take loads up to 11.5 feet tall. It’s a RGN trailer, that means Removeable Goose Neck, but its strictly manual, no hydraulics or air pressure involved in taking the neck part off the trailer part so it can be loaded. Its not a difficult procedure, just a little time consuming. Once detached, its very easy to load heavy equipment onto it. With the old stepdeck there were several times no ramp was available and much time was wasted with work arounds.

BTW: I finally figured out how to run my blog from the browser on my cell phone and so far its working out.

Off to bed now…
