Back on the Road, Slowly

After sitting a day to get service on the truck and because I got a load that won’t deliver on the weekend, I’m back at it today, heading for Kansas City (they got some crazy, little wimmins there, I heard). Lately this spring, loads have been a bit slow, lots of short-haul runs and long weekends sitting still waiting for time to pass. I’ve been driving for less than two years, but I remember late winter and early spring of last year being about the same.

I’m sure when summer rolls around and I’m sweating my way through the backroads of Texas or New Mexico, I’ll look back on these “salad days” with longing. But I don’t dig the short paychecks these slow days produce and I’d rather be sweating than freezing anyday. I really can’t stand the winter season or cold weather.

Better get my happy-ass moving…
