Down Time / Laptop

Down for a 34 hr break in Birmingham, Alabama. I got lucky and my dispatch came up with a load out of Covington, Kentucky that I could pick up today.   Monday, I’ll head to Mobile to deliver the load.

Being a flatbed driver I deal with lots of places that are only open from 8am to 4pm, for example and are closed on weekends.  My current load came to me over the satellite yesterday, right before the folks in the office headed home for the weekend.  Gave me a bit if a scare, thought I was going to have to spend the weekend in Dayton, Ohio.  Ugh…

In other news my laptop is fixing to crap out on me.  I think either the power jack is coming loose inside (its supposed to be a common problem with this brand of Toshiba laptop) or the adapter wires are screwed up (the insulation looks kinda funny in spots).  My laptop has seen lots of abuse and vibration from rattling around in my truck for a couple of years, sitting on the passenger seat and running my GPS and map program while I’m driving.  I’m on my second hard drive, 1/3 of the screws that hold the case together are missing and the plastic casing looks like it was cleaned with dust and sandpaper.

Otherwise it still works great
