Iran’s Bogus Stealth Flying Boat

Heard about all the new saber rattling that Iran has been doing and heard about their stealthy flying boat. Having a passing interest in airplanes, I checked out Fox News’ story to see of there were any pictures. There was one and it made me laugh out loud. Strangely Iran’s “homemade” flying boat looks suspiciously like the flarecraft developed by Flarecraft Corp. of Westport, CT. Iran didn’t invent this thing, they bought (stole or copied) it from us! Way to go Iran!

What’s a flarecraft? Flarecrafts (aka ekranoplans) are “wing in surface effect” vehicles. Basically boats with stubby wings that can fly a few feet above the water on a high pressure pocket of air under it’s wings. As far as stealthness I figure it’s most “stealthy aspect is it’s small size but I figure if the Navy can down a high-speed missile coming in over the wavetops, they can get this one too…

Iran, home of “high tech.” Uh-huh…
