Westboro Baptist Church Sucks!

(copied from the old blog…)

Private Jonathan Pfender, 22 and a native of Evansville, Indiana, was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq on December 30, 2005. Yesterday, the 11th, his funeral service was held and hundreds of people came out in support of his family. Not because he was well-known or had an extended friends list, but to pay homage to his service to his country and to drown out a few unwelcome and uninvited guests:

The massive show of support was in response to seven flag-stomping, obscenity-spewing female protesters representing Topeka, Kan.-based Westboro Baptist Church.

Confined to a walkway, set off by orange plastic fencing across from The Centre, the laughing protesters danced on a rain-soaked American flag, substituted obscenities for the lyrics of patriotic songs and carried placards that praised the death of soldiers.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t keep up with the latest and greatest. so Who the fuck is Westboro Baptist Church? A little research showed them to be a hate group based out of Topeka, Kansas that believes God is killing soldiers in Iraq because they serve a country that is “harboring gays.” These inbreds (and I mean that literally, most of the 100 or so members come from the same family) formed a church, with no relation to any other church or creed (and downright condemned by some), wrapped around the idea that they are the only “true” church of Jesus Christ and that they have been mandated by God to put down the military and homosexuality.

These freaks decided they were going to protest the funeral service in Evansville and had announced their participation in advance (stupid move, but what can you expect). The handful that did show up were met by more than three hundred counter protesters, military veterans and supporters, and the Patriot Guard Riders. My wife heard from a few of these fine folks at the restaurant where she worked and was told that if the Westboro group opened their foul sewers that they would be drowned out by the sounds of a hundred Harley’s revving up. Good for them!

I can hardly believe this crap taking place in my little hometown of Evansville. I can hardly believe that subhuman garbage like the moonbats calling themselves the Westboro Baptist Church exist, much less have the balls to come to my little town. I won’t link to their website, just google “god hates fags” and you’ll find these scum-sucker’s web presence. Yick…

But I’ll happily link to Patriot Guard Riders, a fine organization started in Oklahoma who’s mission is to “Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities” and to “Shield the mourning family and friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.” and they do this all peacefully and as invited guests.

Folks, I’m all for free speech and freedom of religion, but when that infringes on the mourning of those who lost loved ones, something must be done. Indiana and a few other states have passed or are looking at legislation banning protests too close to funerals. I’ve mixed feeling about this one. Restrict freedom of speech to preserve the sanctity of a funeral? I’m not quite sure.

I like the solution that we had right here.

My hometown of Alton, Illinois spent this
past saturday (may 6, 2006) paying homage
to one our fallen soldiers. CPL Shawn Lasswell. Veterans of all ages, Patriot Guard Riders (100 strong), and
even school children were present to pay
their respects as the procession made it’s
way through some of the city’s main thoroughfares.
None of these Westboro Baptist Morons came
here, but we were more than prepared if they
    had.
I cannot believe with all the Anti-American things they profess and the outright desecration of our flag that we
allow them to stay here in this country.
We are at war, and these idiots are just
what the terrorists like hearing. I say
we pack up their whole inbred clan and send
them to some little island nobody has
ever heard of, where they can spew their garbage to their hearts content.

God Bless our soldiers and those who honor and respect them.

I have not seen any of these scumbags myself, but I live in Conway, Arkansas and today 6/7/06 they are in a small town of Bebee, Arkansas to protest at the funeral of Bobby West who was killed in Iraq last week by an IED. I personally think these so-called christians should be taken out of this counrty and never to return. Who the hell do they think they are? I am not gay,nor do I know any gay people, but it isn’t up to them to judge. Anyone who act like they do can not be a true American. Do for some reason think that this country is the only one on earth that has gays? We need to send their sorry asses over to Iraq and then see how they feel about protesting. To ALL of you who attend the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas I say KISS MY FUCKING ASS!!!!!!

As a military wife, these people make me sick. If they hate the U.S. so much, why don’t they leave? But I guess when you hate everybody as much as they do, it is probably best to stay where your rights of free speech are protected (coincidentally by those they seem to hate the most). At least these people are a minority, and there are other groups like the Patirot Guard Riders to be thankful for.

Stupid should hurt, Westboro Baptist should be hurting very bad. Perhaps they should watch the OPB show “THE SIXTIES”. The Sixties is an era that shaped our County more than we know. The fight for Women’s equality, Black Equality, The War. Once again it is the few like Westboro that seem to get the publicity. Support our Troops, not the war, support humanity, not inhumanity.

I am not a religious person and am glad for that. I would not want to believe in the deity that these assholes believe in. If there were a serial killer out there right now, I wish that this person would pick the stupid asses in that “church,” to torture and kill!!!! Hoping that a horrible death comes to these people and that their funerals will be shit on by all around!!

    amen to that

As a member of the Patriot Guard, and a former US Army soldier, the Westboro baptist bullshit makes me sick to my stomach. These inbred assholes don’t realize the sacrifices; read GREAT sacrifices these men and women make. These “curch” clowns don’t realize that the ONLY reason they can preach this blasphemy is because our great nations armed forces protect their rights.

I am so disgusted by the Westboro….cking church, especially that with named Shirley that she was going to protest the poor Amish girls funeral. If she go, I am sure some of those non-Amish people will beat the crap out of them. Somebody need to throw some dirty bombs at the Phelps and scattered their torn bodies to the acide swimming pools.

These idiots showed up today at my friend Sgt. Kraig Foyteck’s funeral in Skokie Illinois. I was on my way to Kraig’s funeral this morning and I drove by these idiots. I had promised my self that I would not do anything but before I knew it, I had stopped and rolled down my window to say a few words. The police that were standing there smiled and shook their heads in agreement. I found myself filled with such anger that I actually put my truck in park in the middle of the street. I was going to get out and try to get my hands on one of them. I turned and told my girlfriend you are going to have to get me out of jail. The emotion just got the best of me but when I reached for the door, I looked up and saw all the Patriot Guard Riders with their flags and it reminded me why I was there. I decided to take the high ground and I put my truck in drive, I said a few more choice words and gave them a hand gesture as I drove away. It was then that the tears started and they did not end until I was on my way home. What these people do is beyond words and just down right cruel. On the other hand, the PGR people are great and I want everyone to visit their site and donate money if you can or even just write a nice letter to let them know just how much they are appreciated.
